Client statements

What a client statement shows

A statement is a per-client summary of their account with your studio: total invoiced, total paid, outstanding balance, and any deposits currently held against future work. It's a studio-side tool — clients don't see or generate this themselves in the portal; you pull it up and share it as needed (e.g. attach the PDF to an email).

Where to find it

Open a client from Clients, then the Account tab on their detail drawer. You'll see:

  • Lifetime totals (invoiced / paid / outstanding / deposits held), per currency if the client has projects in more than one
  • A row-by-row list of invoices and payments
  • An optional date range — set one to see a windowed summary for just that period, with its own opening/closing balance, instead of lifetime figures. An end date you pick covers the whole of that day, not just up to midnight at its start.

Downloading a PDF

Click Download PDF to get a branded, printable statement for the same view (lifetime or date-ranged) you're looking at on screen.

Only sent, paid, and otherwise finalized invoices appear on a statement — drafts and voided invoices are left off, since a statement is meant to reflect what the client has actually been billed.

FAQ

Can my client access their statement directly? Not today — statements are generated and shared by you, the designer. There's no client-facing statement view in the portal.

What if a client has projects in more than one currency? Totals are kept separate per currency rather than combined into one misleading number.

Is there a cap on how much history a statement can show? Very large accounts are capped per request with an honest truncation notice rather than silently dropping rows — if you hit it, narrow the date range.
